GLASGOW TO GET THE TASTE OF THE IRISH WITH DONEGAL LIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Donegal Live, Sunday 1 May, Merchant Square, Glasgow 12 noon - 6pm

Glasgow will come alive with the sound of Ireland on 1 May when Donegal Live hits the city.

The one-day extravaganza will bring the Donegal craic and culture to Scotland with the best music and entertainment from the region.

The free event will see Merchant Square in Candleriggs and Bell Street brought to life with the sounds of historic County Donegal and Scotland from 12 noon to 6pm.

The Mullaghduff Pipe Band will lead the entertainment in the afternoon alongside artists including the Irish Minstrels, Jill Jackson, CCE, the McHugh Group, the Friel sisters, Paul McKenna Band, the Amadáns and the Wakes.

There will also be clowns, face painting, magicians for all the family and a midday ceili (Irish ceilidh) with music by the St. Roch’s CCE and the Ardara Set Dancing Group.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy stalls showcasing all that Donegal has to offer from food, trips, accommodation and leisure activities.

The festival will culminate in a ticketed concert by Donegal favourites Daniel O’Donnell, Mickey Harte, The Campbells and comedian Conal Gallan at the Royal Concert Hall in the evening.

It’s the first time Donegal Live has ever been held outside of Ireland. More than 25,000 joined the party in Dublin’s Temple Bar last year.

Elaine Murray, of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted to bring the colour and the craic of Ireland to Glasgow with Donegal Live. Scots know how to party just as much as the Irish and with music, entertainment and fun for all the family it will be a great day out.

“We had 25,000 people in Temple Bar in Dublin last year and we’re expecting an amazing atmosphere in Glasgow this May Day too.”

The Donegal Live afternoon is free from 12 noon – 6pm.
Tickets are now on sale for Donegal Live in Concert, which will take place in the Royal Concert Hall. Tickets are priced at £25 and £20 and available from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall box office.
